1876 J.D. Scott Atlas Nearing Completion

Today, we take the 1876, 1891 and 1948 atlases for granted. They are some of the most valuable tools for historians, genealogists and are just cool as hell.

In 1876 excitement for J. D. Scott's upcoming Atlas of Bucks County was building.

Newtown Enterprise Jan 1, 1876

Mr. J. D. Scott, map publisher, is rapidly drawing the work on the township atlas of Bucks County to completion, and it will be ready for subscription early in the centennial year. It will give all the lines of farms and lots with the name of the proprietor, and will be embellished with views of public and private buildings. The views in Newtown will be the Agricultural Works of Hillborn, Buckman & Co., the store block and residence of Cyrus Hillborn, the printing office building and bakery of E. F. Church, and others. In the township, Thos. B. Scott has a fine large view of his dwelling, barn and other houses, on his stock farm.
