A Remarkably Accurate Survey

Moses Moon was a surveyor for Bucks County in the late 18th century who made countless drafts of properties, many of which still survive. This beautiful survey is for the land just north of Taylorsville.

And the 1937 aerial of the location.

And finally, a composite of the 2 images showing the remarkable accuracy of Moon. The property lines are almost dead on. We see that "River Side Road" is today's Taylorsville Rd. At the time of the survey, it was the closest road to the river, River Road wasn't yet laid out. Something similar happened in NJ where they called Bear Tavern Road River Road until a closer road was built.

I find it fascinating that someone with 18th century tools at their disposal could map out a property so precisely and artfully.
